Unit powered perfectly and I created a test document and printed the page. The foam on the inside of the case has deteriorated and I left as is for any protection it may provide, but you may indeed want to remove it as it is messy (this will take slight effort). I wrapped the keyboard and Writer in plastic.
Everything works great. The RIGHT ARROW key on the upper right of the keyboard is a little depressed and repeats slightly (to stop it press another key).
