Description
International shipping is finally available for this item!400 nm thick, 50 mm (2 inch) diameter Tl(2)Ba(2)CaCu(2)O(8) thin film on a 0.5 mm thick LaAlO(3) substrate. Coated on both sides.
Manufactured by DuPont. See
Holstein W L, Parisi L A, Wilker C and Flippen R B 1992 Appl. Phys. Lett. 60, pp. 2014-2016
for a description of the fabrication.
These films have been kept in dry storage for about 15 years. Several were taken out for microwave surface resistance, R
s
, measurement in 2013. Microwave surface resistance was still low. Measured with a three-sample sapphire resonator round robin following
International Standard IEC 61788-7,Superconductivity – Part 7 (2006),
but at 5.5 GHz. Tc was about 105K to 107K on those samples. Data are included with the photos. (FYI about the graph: R
s,eff
means that I didn't apply a substrate correction, so the actual R
s
may be even lower.)
These films were intended for use in electronic device fabrication. However, a small rare earth magnet (not included) will float above these films as shown in the image. Just add liquid nitrogen (also not included). Cool demo! (Your wafer
(

will be pristine and will not have been subjected to this treatment.)
There are a lot of good videos demonstrating this effect.
Here are a couple of videos that actually use these thin films:

Disclaimers
Buyer is responsible for understanding the specifications of the material described above.
Please only order this if you have the means to cool it (liquid nitrogen or other cryogenics). Seller is not responsible for uninformed buyers.
Wear gloves when handling. It protects you from the film and the film from you. Do not heat treat unless you know what you are doing.
This is a technical material and should only be acquired by those with the knowledge to use it.
