Antique Dollhouse from 1972...This wonderful dollhouse was originally a tall bookcase that I found in my attic in the 60's and used as such until 1972 when I sketched a front for it as a dollhouse. I had the front made by a friend who was a "detailist" and actually made roof, windows, flower boxes, front porch just as I had drawn. I did the painting. Over time I would have special pieces made by him - the old kitchen cabinet, even with the metal bins beneath, and an old style icebox. The ice box top opens with a piece of glass that looks exactly like ice. The sink is made out of the metal and down below there is a tiny curtain that covers the bottom of the sink just as they used to in the olden days. My mother made the bedroom coverlet by hand, including the machine made sheets and pillow cases. I did the bassinet. It is really a museum piece but I'd rather someone have it for their home. It is really a conversational piece to put anywhere, but it isn't really meant to be a toy but that is completely up to you. The bedroom picture doesn't show comforter on the bed as it was made a year after the picture was taken. I crocheted a tiny rug for the basement and braided a rug for the kitchen. The sewing machine even has a pattern, pin cushion, fabric and scissors. The detail is wonderful! You will never see one like it as it is original!
This is a 5 story dollhouse with all of the furniture for each of the individual rooms, with intricate pieces, such as little pictures lamps, plants, etc. It is in pristine condition and has been well taken care of with one owner since 1972.
It is cross posted and local pick up preferred but willing to mail if you pay postage.
