    Description

    This listing is for an adapter plate and a new flywheel to install the Cummins 8.3TA C series engine
    INTO THE LARGE FRAME IH TRACTORS
    This will fit the 66, and 86 series, and the 2+2's from the 3388 all the way to the 6788
    It is the same width and shape as the factory plate so it looks like a factory fit!!
    Should also work fine for the 4100, 4156, 4166 and 4186
    Custom built of Aluminum alloy or steel  (special order) and priced here with a
    new
    14 inch flywheel,
    This is a conversion that we thought would be appealing to some for high HP, PTO and tillage work. The 8.3 makes enough power that it is probably not a good choice
    in many tractors that it could be bolted into.  I believe the 1566, 1586, 3588 and 3788, the 6588 and 6788 as well as the solid frame 4WD like the
    4156, 4166 and 4186 could hold the power and provide additional performance with this engine. However this is uncharted waters for us and there will be some
    clearance problems to deal with and various front mounts designed and even frame rails may be needing modified in some of the tractors.  The tractors mentioned above have
    stronger pto drive gears than the smaller frame versions of their respective series. In addition the 15's have a heavy ring and pinion as well as rear axle planetary's that have a lot in common with the Magnums,
    I believe they would be a great candidate for the 8.3.  As for the 2+2's; they have the power split between two axles and with a careful operator should hold up as well. In today's world there are improvements that have been developed to improve these tractors dramatically, Better hydraulic pumps and filtering systems, TA's that will stand 10 times what the originals were good for, double disc clutches, pto clutch pacs that are amazing.
    This can make a tractor that you already own into something that can do the job, instead of spending 90K for something built of plastic that requires a computer class just to run it.
    On this 8.3 conversion we recommend a double disc clutch set up if you are going to put the power through the wheels and driveline.
    We have been able to put together a  double disc and 14 inch wheel  that fits into the bell housing on most of  the models listed below and allows full use of the TA and the PTO .
    And we have put together pto drive gear updates that have extended the life of the gears in extreme use situations that are simple to install and they work!

    We originally built this plate to accommodate some tractor puller interest and it will allow the 8.3 to be bolted into tractors as old as the 1963, 706 and 806's

    THIS PLATE IS APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES WIDER THAN THE BELL HOUSING  FOR THE 06 AND 56 SERIES TRACTORS AS PICTURED HERE,
    WE CAN MACHINE TO FIT THE ORIGINAL DIAMETER OF THE 06 OR 56 TRACTORS BELL HOUSINGS.
    You
    SHOULD BE
    able to use your stock diesel starter as the ring gear is in the exact location as factory was!
    You will need to provide the front mounts and the other accessories and linkages yourself, as the
    Cummins can come with a wide variety of mounting points for accessory's
    You will also want to make sure the clearance's in other areas work for your application.
    The left front side at the timing cover will need modified in some cases.
